How long have you been at WLP?
It is hard to believe that this is my fifteenth year the Wilmot Learning Place and I am still really enjoying it!
Why did you choose to teach at the pre-k level?
I chose to teach at the pre-K level because it is a joy to teach this age group. They are so eager to learn, inquisitive and absorb everything! Children at this age level learn through their senses, need to move, respond well to music and love to have fun. With each theme many activities and materials can be introduced which incorporate all these needs.
What do you like about teaching?
What I like most about teaching is the enthusiasm the children have about learning and discovering things. I love to see the excitement on a child's face when a butterfly emerges from its chrysalis or a chick from an egg. It is such a reward to see the pride on a child's face when they accomplish something for the first time. The children amaze me every day with what they remember or how kind and caring they can be

What is your favorite quote from a child that you have taught?
My favorite quote from a child that I have taught occurred when we were learning about the first Thanksgiving and the child said to her parent "is Mrs. Morgan a pilgrim?"
What is your favorite “area” to teach?
I do not have a favorite area to teach for this age level because I enjoy so many different areas. I love doing art with all the hands on messy activities and so many different things to paint with and on. I really enjoy reading to the children and singing silly songs. I like the challenge of coming up with new activities to do with a new theme we are working on or making up songs for our play! With all these different hands on activities the children are learning without even knowing it!
Why did you choose to teach at the preschool/preK level?
Three to five year-old children are active, enthusiastic, fun-loving people who are excited about learning.
I am not one to sit still for long, so I enjoy the energy of the children - there is never a dull moment in the preK classroom!
What do you like most about teaching?
I enjoy seeing the pride in a child’s face when s/he has learned something new, or when s/he successfully managed a frustrating social situation.
How long have you worked at the Wilmot Learning Place?
Six Years.
What is your favorite children’s book?
Blueberries For Sal by Robert McCloskey. It reminds me of summers in Maine when I was a child.
What is your favorite quote from a child that you have taught?
I honestly can’t think of a favorite quote, but the children frequently come up with cute or interesting ways of describing things or events.
What is your favorite “area” to teach?
The art area is my favorite area to work in. I like thinking creatively and getting messy, and I try to share my enthusiasm for art with the children.
How long have you been at WLP?
I started working at WLP in September 2004 as the teacher’s assistant in the preschool classroom. I have been the preschool teacher since September 2010.
Why did you choose to teach at the preschool level?
I enjoy working with this age group because they are very energetic and eager to learn!
What do you like about teaching?
There is nothing more rewarding than when a child realizes that he/she is independent. I love the smiles of accomplishment!

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein
What is your favorite quote from a child that you have taught?
“Mrs. C., why is your hair wrinkly?”
What is your favorite “area” to teach?
I enjoy teaching the “Discovery Area.” I enjoy seeing what each child will build and create. Each child always puts their own creative mark on their projects and they are so proud of that individualism. It is always exciting to see his/her progression throughout the school year.

How long have you been at WLP?
I have been at Wilmot Learning Place as a teacher for 2 years and a board member for 1 year.
Why did you choose to teach at the preschool level?
I chose teaching at Wilmot learning place because I loved how much both of my girls enjoyed coming to Wilmot Learning Place and learning everyday.
What do you like about teaching?
What I like most about teaching is watching the children become independent and confident and seeing how proud they are of themselves when they realize what they have accomplished.

My favorite children’s book is Full Moon Barnyard Dance by Carol Lexa Schaefer
What is your favorite quote from a child that you have taught?
My favorite quote from a child is “ my applesauce is way too appley"
What is your favorite “area” to teach?
I like all the areas of teaching. I am mostly in art area and it is fun to watch the creativity that each child has with the art projects.
